A new Russian standard in the field of biobanking GOST R 71251-2024 “Biotechnology. Biobanking. Terms and definitions” came into force on May 1, 2024. The standard was developed by NASBio experts on the basis of the glossary published in 2020.

The main purpose of preparing the standard is to create a unified terminological base among researchers, clinicians and legal authorities on the territory of the Russian Federation. The document is intended for application by organizations engaged in biobanking of multicellular organisms and microorganisms for research work, as well as users of biobanks, regulatory authorities and other persons and organizations for interaction with biobanks.
