On March 30-31, 2024, the 16th annual China Holistic Integrate Biobankology Conference 2024 was held in Kunming, China. NASBio was represented by Artem Muraviev, Executive Director of the Association. The conference included a report on the history of biobanking development in Russia, the history of NASBio and future prospects.

An important event of the conference was signing a cooperation agreement between the Russian Association NASBio and the Chinese Association BBCMBA. The signatories of the agreement were Alexey Meshkov, Director of NASBio and Hengjun Gao, President of BBCMBA.

The purpose of cooperation between NASBio and BBCMBA is to organize and conduct scientific and informational interaction in the field of biobanking, modern infrastructure of biobanks, mutual consultations, thematic meetings, conferences, schools and seminars.

NASBio was established in 2018 with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to address the task of creating a full-fledged network of biobanks, depositories and collections of biomaterials in the country. The purpose of the Association is to unite the efforts of specialists in the field of biobanking to develop a network of biobanks in Russia, to provide specialized and educational services in the field of biobanking, as well as to assist in the development and implementation of scientific and practical projects and programs related to the use of funds and infrastructure of biobanks, and to represent and protect the common interests of members of the Association.

The key activities of The Biobank Branch, China Medicinal Biotech Association (BBCMBA), established in 2009, are the development and implementation of biobanking standards in China, education and training, academic communication and international cooperation.
